Tell me

I would stand against a battalion,
Take the bullets of thousand rifles if need be.
Face a Tienanmen square of hundred tanks,
If you ever tell me it is the way it is.

I yearn for great things but impatient,
Need to get infection to disinfect,
Do questionable acts to solve a question,
A kill to save a life.

I am globally generous, but locally selfish,
Driven by survival instincts, slowly consuming my body.
Prefer a comforting lie over a bitter truth,
For I am rational yet irrational.

Should I rather be comforting you, to use you as slaves of my greed,
Putting rose tinted sunglasses on you through this strange road?
Or tell you the story of the truth,
Of the selfish, the greed, the sadist, the masochists?

Should I rather live to satiate my senses, meant to survive and procreate,
In this circle of life, of the survival of the fittest?
Or take the pain to seek the truth beneath,
Of the responsibility that follows with it?

It is you I am asking to, my fellow being.
But look no further to find who am I to ask,
For I am no one, but you.
